Thol 2018

No birds at all. In good old days, this island was full of hundreds of migratory birds.
Thol is an easy to reach place and is serene natural place for an early morning outing. In winters, one can witness a large number of migratory birds. A perfect outing for the concrete jungle residents. I have been going out to Thol every year, since 2013. We have always found amazing birds in large numbers. This year was a complete disappointing sight. No birds at all in mid January.

Two “bagule bhagat”
Instead we found a large number of people picnicking there with loud music, cricket and eatables in plastics and disposable plates etc.

As humans, we are converting jungles into concrete jungles. When we need solace and peace, we want to be with nature but we do not let  them( animals and birds) live peacefully in their natural abodes . It was very saddening experience. When I went little further, I saw some migratory birds on a distant island. The number was very small.

I wonder, why the officials on duty as guards and watchmen do not react and control or sensitize visitors to behave as they should. It’s in the interest of all of us.

The place is not  friendly for differently abled persons.  A very steep ramp was seen, but it’s gradient was too steep that no one can take any wheel chair up. More over, as one reaches the top, the access of the ramp is blocked and one can not reach the pathway.

The steep ramp, which is blocked at the top. It’s condition is pathetic and no one can use it.
